Pre 10 Post 10
Structural Integration/The Ten-Series
The initial series is applied in a series of ten. Each segment is both a continuation of the previous and and an introduction to the next. A session may last from 60 - 90 minutes and may be scheduled anywhere from one to three week intervals. At the end of each session the client will receive some education in regards to the specific changes made in their structure, so that they can can utilize the newness of their body.
The First Session : The goal of the first session is to open up the ribcage to increase vitality. The session also includes arms, hips, hamstrings, neck and back. After the initial session, the client usually feels longer, breathes easier, and experiences freer movement in the pelvis.
The Second Session : The goal of the second session is to open up the lower leg and align the ankle, heel and foot. The session ends with some neck and back work on a Structural Integration Bench. The Client is then educated about where the feet should be positioned for proper posture and alignment.
The Third Session : The goal of the third session is to create a lateral line that creates a relationship from the back to the front of the body. Also more space is created from the 12th rib to the hip. There is some arm and neck work in this session. The client will be educated on bringing the breath lower into the back to feel the connection from the back to the feet.
It is not recommended going past the third session unless the client is fully committed to finishing the whole Ten-series.
The Fourth Session : The goal of the fourth session is to organize the inside planes of the legs from the ankles to the pelvic floor. The client will be educated on how to properly sit using the new space in their pelvis. Some integrative back work will happen on the Structural Integration Bench.
The Fifth Session : The goal of the fifth session is to release the spine by lengthening the superficial abdominal fascia , and their relationship to the hip flexors, arm, chest, neck and sometimes upper legs are included in this session. In this session, The Psoas Bench will be introduced to the client. The client will be educated on breathing from the chest and into the pelvis.
The Sixth Session : The goal of the sixth session is to lengthen the sacrum and release the deeper layers from the sacrum through to the pubic bone. A line of relationship will be established from the heel, ankle, lower and upper leg into the sacrum. The session ends neck with some work and Psoas bench . The client will be educated on feeling their sacrum and lengthening from there.
The Seventh Session : The goal of the seventh session is to balance the head and neck on the spine. Work includes the collar bone, skull and face. The client will be educated on how to find and own the "top" of their head as well as proper use of arms when getting up from a sitting position.
In the first seven sessions of the series the goal is to re-balance and reorganize to a higher level of order. In sessions 8 , 9 , and 10 the goal becomes INTEGRATION.
The Eighth and Ninth Sessions : The goals of both sessions eight and nine are to integrate the planes of fascia from upper to lower body. One session will be an "upper girdle" and the other a "lower girdle" session. They are interchangeable. Movement cues will be used during the session to create this connection. Both sessions 8 and 9 require the clients presence and participation.
The Tenth Session: The goal of the tenth session is to leave the client balanced and in a state of "rest". The intention is very different in this session compared to the previous 9. The client tends to feel "peaceful" during this session. The client is then educated on how to live with their "line" both standing and walking.
After the Ten-Series, it is suggested to take a break while the body continues to change from day to day. After a period of time the client may choose to receive more work by receiving a three-series session which can be followed, in time, by an advanced 5 series . This work continues the progression and evolution of the ten. It is advisable to continue in sessions of three as opposed to doing spot work or "tune ups" to get the most benefits.
